How to Handle the End of Windows 11 Version 22H2

Windows 11 version 22H2’s retirement is looming!

By October 8, 2024, your device needs to be updated to the latest version of Windows. The good news for Impact clients is that we’ve already done this for you, so ease your mind.

But for others, we want to stress the importance of keeping your devices updated and safe.

What Does Windows 11 version 22H2’s End of Service Mean for You?

When version 22H2 is retired, Microsoft will stop providing security patches and bug fixes to devices on that version. This means your system will become vulnerable to security threats, and you’ll miss new features and performance improvements.

Repercussions of Not Upgrading from Windows 11 version 22H2

  • Security Risks: Without updates, your system is more vulnerable to viruses and cyberattacks on retired versions.
  • Software Compatibility: Newer applications may not work on outdated versions of Windows.
  • Performance Issues: Lack of updates can lead to slower system performance.
  • No Technical Support: Microsoft and other vendors will eventually stop offering support for outdated versions.

What should you do?

Follow the instructions below, but if you need help or have any questions, feel free to reach out to Impact.

  • Upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11 (24H2) with the newest features, enhanced security, and improved performance.
  • Turn on automatic updates to protect against threats, or check yourself by going to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.
  • Monitor end-of-service dates to schedule updates and maintain device security.
  • Power up and charge your old devices; they are still vulnerable! So make sure to keep them up to date.
  • Check out our latest video on Windows 11 version 22H2, where Dave provides a quick explanation that will keep you safe ahead of October 8.
