Bryan Chapman, one of our highly skilled 2nd Line Service Desk Engineers at Impact is celebrating his one-year anniversary at Impact!

On the 2nd line, Bryan uses his 30 years of IT experience to provide our clients with quality service and solutions. He’s also a skilled chef and runs a seafront hotel in Blackpool!
We caught up with Bryan to learn more about his first year at Impact and his IT journey.
Why did you choose a career in IT?
“After my apprenticeship, I qualified as a mechanical design engineer.
At the time (many years ago) CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) were in their infancy and are unstable.
I spent a lot of time supporting UNIX (UNIplexed Information Computing System) workstations for myself and colleagues and realised I preferred supporting the computing environment.
I moved on to supporting servers and workstations for a few different companies including IBM and a mobile internet startup – before 3/4G was a thing!”
What have you learnt in your first year at Impact?
“That Impact stands out from other MSPs in all ways.
The level of professionalism and expertise is amazing, the teamwork and level of help is outstanding and no one at any level is left to struggle with any problem.
Although I am old and have nearly 30 years in the IT industry, I have learnt new technical and customer service skills from everyone here.”
What would you like to achieve in the future with the company?
“I am working towards Microsoft accreditation which I have not been able to do at other companies.
I look forward to sharing my experience with others and being a role model for younger members of the team.”
Tell us about something you’ve achieved at Impact that you’re proud of
I’m proud of how we keep clients happy every day. There is no better feeling of having ‘saved the day’ when someone calls.
