Ash Farr, Impact’s Service Operations Manager and Client Security Lead, is celebrating nine years with the company.
He joined us as a 2nd Line Engineer and has gone from strength to strength, progressing through the ranks to Team Leader, Service Desk Manager, and Security Lead before taking up his current role.
Ash is frequently seen giving our clients first-class service or assisting his team with complex tasks.
We caught up with Ash to learn more about his time at Impact and what makes him tick.
What have you learnt during your time with Impact?
“I have learnt so much; the technical development never ends in this industry. I’ve learnt a lot about cyber security to help protect our clients.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work closely with Adam and learn about managing people, strategy and business goals. I’ve had a very good mentor.”
What advice would you give to someone who would like a career in IT?
“IT has to be your passion; technology moves quickly, so you must be receptive to learning all the time.
Don’t overlook your soft skills, as technical skills will only get you so far; you need to be self-starter, driven, organised, a good communicator, caring, understanding, and capable of thinking outside of the box.”
Tell us about something you are proud of achieving at Impact.
“I’m most proud of the company awards I have won over the years. The company awards are decided by our staff, whom I have a lot of respect and admiration for, so these are special.”
Ash has been the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award (2024), Mentor Award (2023), and Core Values Award (2021) during his time with Impact.
What have you enjoyed most about working at Impact?
“Each role has had its challenges and allowed me to learn new skills.
The best part of my job is watching people develop and helping them overcome many of the same challenges I had earlier in my career.”
Hear from Impact MD Adam Gregson:
“Ash has been a fantastic member of our team. Not only does he possess excellent technical skills and a love of IT, but what sets Ash apart is his character. He brings positivity and enthusiasm to the workplace and genuinely cares about our team and our clients.
He’s a great colleague, and I look forward to many more years working together.”
