Junior IT Support Engineer


Impact Computing are a small team of 16 people who provide Managed IT Services to businesses across the North West. All our employees have a passion and enthusiasm for the work they do which in turn has created a great work environment that we feel stands out from other employers.

 

To fill this vacancy, it is important to find the right candidate that fits the team. Most importantly you must have an enthusiasm for IT and a drive to learn and expand your career. If you don’t have a huge amount of experience then don’t worry, what matters more to us is your aptitude and commitment to do a good job with aims of high-level customer service.

 

Salary will be based on experience between £18,000 - £21,000

Impact Computing has honestly been a fantastic start to my career in IT and most days it doesn't feel like a job as I'm enjoying myself that much. Progressing up from a Junior Support Engineer I am now leading the Service Desk department and collectively we're an engaged, highly driven, skilled team of engineers. The company have taught me how to progress and the career progression here is great. I have always been able to express my ideas and creativity to those around me at Impact and it shows that as an individual I am making a real difference to the company. Lewis - Support Desk Team Leader

 

I was quite scared joining Impact as it was my first proper IT job and I wanted to put my skills to the test, turns out there is so much in this field! I can honestly say I do not regret my choice joining Impact and I have learnt so much in little time, I have gone from being able to handle basic issues on a single machine to fully diagnosing complex network issues that affect dozens of people. My job role is quite diverse and challenging and I am given the tools to fully explore all options I am interested in within IT, at the moment I am focused on cloud services and how this can be incorporated into our clients and how this improves their business. Impact gives me the tools I need to help me learn more and become qualified in this field.

We all have a laugh and a joke, and we never take ourselves too seriously on the support desk which is great because it makes me enjoy my work more. We still maintain a highly professorial environment but at least we can have fun doing it!

Fox - 1st Line Support Engineer

 

What are we looking for?

We want candidates who have a passion for IT and can demonstrate this in their educational history and personal life. Outside of IT specifics, the roles focus is customer service so candidates must be strong in communication across all formats. We like people who can use their own initiative to problem solve and like to leave no stone unturned.

We are looking for someone with key technical abilities in areas such as Windows 10, Windows Server, Office 365, Routers, LANs and IT Security. A sought-after skill for this role is to be able to relay technical explanations jargon-free. Troubleshooting internet connectivity, email and Windows based problems are common support issues that candidates need to be confident at tackling. 

 

Advantageous Experience is 1-2 years working in an established Managed Service Provider at a 1st Line Support Engineer level. Also experience with the ConnectWise platform and a Microsoft 365 certification.

 

Job Specifics & Benefits

The working hours are Monday to Friday 08:45 to 17:15 with a 1-hour lunch break. We provide a standard holiday entitlement of 20 days + bank holidays however, we usually give additional time off during the Christmas/New Year period.
