What is it like to work at Impact Computing?
For this it’s best if you hear from our engineer Simon who is currently working as an apprentice in the Installations department.
I joined impact as an apprentice without knowing what to really expect and how things will go. I started out on the workbench with PC and laptop installations having only previously worked on my own machine at home. I’ve since carried out a wide variety of jobs which include repairs, diagnosing issues, Microsoft 365 license setup/changes and software installations and configuration. There is always something going on in the Installations Team as there is a wide variety of work to be done which I love. I have been able to expand my knowledge very quickly and feel proud of what I have learned since joining Impact. I now take responsibility for the workbench in general and always look for areas of improvement. I love the atmosphere of working here as we get to talk about everything, there is fun, there is humor and there is always enjoyment even when things are busy. What are we looking for?
We want candidates who have a passion for IT and can demonstrate this in their educational history and personal life. For this role, a specialism in hardware and software installation would be preferred. We like people who can use their own initiative to problem solve and like to leave no stone unturned. Common tasks will include:
The role also includes liaising with clients so candidates must be confident in all areas of communication and customer service. Other keys strengths are time management and prioritization, enthusiastic with a positive attitude and strong initiative with attention to detail.
Job Specifics & Benefits
The working hours are Monday to Friday 08:45 to 17:15 with a 1-hour lunch break. We provide a standard holiday entitlement of 20 days + bank holidays however, we usually give additional time off during the Christmas/New Year period.
Candidates should live a commutable distance from our office in Kirkham. There is a free car park onsite and we have regular social events in and outside of work. We like to support our employees in their career and offer funded qualifications and annual pay reviews.
